Connect Discord

Discord is listed in Add Channel, but it cannot be connected on PostQueen yet. Connecting it will add PostQueen’s bot to one server, and you will need the Manage Server permission there.

Post settings

Each Discord post in the composer has one setting:
  • Select Channel: the text or announcement channel to post in. Required. Forum channels are not listed.
The field names and values for the API are on Discord posting settings.

Good to know

  • Before a post is scheduled, PostQueen checks that it is at most 1,980 characters and that a channel is picked.
  • Add comment adds follow-ups, each with its own delay. The first starts a thread on the message, named “Thread”, and later ones go into the same thread. Discord archives the thread after a day without activity.
  • Type @ to mention a member or a role, found by search. @here and @everyone are offered too, but they only notify people when the bot’s role has the Mention Everyone permission in that server.
  • The bot asks for View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links, Attach Files and the thread permissions. If a channel limits who can see it, give the bot’s role View Channel, Send Messages and Attach Files there.
  • When Discord refuses a post, it fails with the reason: “Bot doesn’t have access to this channel”, “Bot lacks permission to send messages in this channel”, “Channel no longer exists” or “Attachment exceeds Discord’s size limit”.
  • Discord’s own file limit is not checked first: 20 MiB per file by default, and more in boosted servers.
