Telegram posting settings

Every post to Telegram carries a settings object with "__type": "telegram". Telegram has no other settings. Read the live schema for your channel with Get a channel’s settings.

Fields

Field	Type	Required	What it does
`__type`	string	No	Always `"telegram"`. PostQueen sets it from the channel you post to, so it can be left out.

The chat is the one the channel was connected to, so a post names no chat of its own. Plain text is sent as it is. For formatting, send HTML: <strong> for bold, <u> for underline and <p> for each paragraph. Other tags are removed and only their text is kept, so italics and link targets are lost. A plain URL in the text still shows as a link in Telegram. What each entry in value becomes depends on its media:

Media in the entry	What Telegram gets
None	A text message, up to 4,096 characters
One file	A photo, a video or a document, with the text as its caption
2 to 10 files	An album, with the text as the caption of its first item
More than 10	Several albums in a row. Only the first carries the text, and a single file left over after a full album is sent on its own

Images go out as photos and videos as videos. Any other file goes out as a document. Each extra entry in value is a follow-up, posted after its delay in minutes: the first replies to the post, and each later one replies to the one before it.

What PostQueen checks

A post that breaks one of these rules is refused with 400 before it is scheduled:

Telegram’s own rules are not checked first: Telegram fetches each file from its link and accepts photos up to 5 MB and other files up to 20 MB, and it can refuse an album that mixes photos and documents.

Examples

Send each body to create a post. Replace YOUR_CHANNEL_ID with the channel’s id from list channels, and each media id and path with the values upload a file returns.

In the first example, the second entry in value is posted an hour after the message, as a reply to it.
